• Oct. 17 — Grandma Gatewood's Fall Colors Hike. Hocking Hills State Park. Meet with the naturalist at the Old Man's Cave Visitor's Center for a strenuous hike that spans roughly 6 miles of the Grandma Gatewood trail. This hike is not recommended for the easily winded individual. Begins at 1 p.m. runs approximately 3 to 4 hours. 740-385-6841
• Oct. 17 - 20 — Circleville Pumpkin Show.
• Oct. 19 — Annual Fall Hike at Lake Hope State Park: Three mile guided hikes begin at 10 am from the shelterhouse. Hike ends at Hope Furnace with bean soup and cornbread. Shuttles return you to your car.
• Oct. 26 — Rural Ohio Appalachia Revisited (ROAR) Day at Lake Hope State Park. Celebrate Appalachian culture though crafts, music, food and fun. 9 am to 5 pm. Call 740-596-3030 for more information.

January 2012

• Jan. 4, 5 & 6 — Logan On Ice. Every January, during the first weekend of the year, the merchants and leaders of Logan Town Center organize an unforgettable winter festival: Logan Ice Extravaganza. Logan downtown becomes a winter wonderland as more than 30 enormous blocks of ice are transformed into works of art during dazzling displays of ice carving, stage shows and competitions.
• Jan. 5 — Late Nite Logan. The first Saturday of every month, downtown Logan comes alive at night. All along Main Street, a special evening of music, entertainment, children's activities, great sales and great food gets underway.
• Jan. 17 — 43rd Annual Winter Hike at Hocking Hills State Park. Enjoy winter's splendor on this 6 mile trek from Old Man's Cave to Ash Cave. Layered clothing and good footwear recommended. Refreshments available for a donation. Shuttle bus returns hikers to Old Man's Cave. Continuous starts from 9-11 a.m. 740-385-6841

• April 20 — Annual Wildflower Pilgrimage Located 7 caves Nature Preserve & surrounding 5 counties. The 3 day's include nearly 2 dozen naturalist- led field trips to botanical hotspots in Ross, Highland, Pike, Adams & Scioto Counties.
